I DONT THINK THERE IS ANY OTHER INDUSTRY QUITE LIKE THIS ONE. TATTOOING HAS EVOLVED IN SUCH A STRANGE WAY IN THE 29 YEARS I HAVE BEEN IN IT. THERE ARE MORE PEOPLE WHO WANT TO BE ARTISTS THAN THERE ARE SHOPS TO APPRENTICE THEM IN. THERE ARE SHOPS OWNED BY NON TATTOO ARTISTS WHO HIRE PEOPLE WHO OPERATE TATTOO MACHINES WHO DO NOT KNOW THE FIRST THING ABOUT WHAT THEY'RE DOING IN THIS 'MINOR SURGICAL PROCESS". COMPOUNDED WITH A LACK OF ETHICS. TV PROGRAMS WHICH GLAMORIZE THE SERVICE JOB THAT WE ARE IN, CREATING EGOS AND ATTITUDES WHICH HAVE NO PLACE IN THIS BUSINESS. ONE DAY YOU'RE FLIPPING BURGERS THE NEXT, YOU ARE A 'TATTOO ARTIST', ROCK STAR. TODAY'S STANDARD IS MEDIOCRITY.

WE, AT FUNHOUSE, STRIVE TO KEEP THIS JOB A HIGH QUALITY SERVICE JOB. WE FEEL IT'S OUR OBLIGATION TO BE ABLE TO SATISFY CLIENTS WISHES AND NEEDS TO THE BEST OF OUR ABILITY. NOT TO IMPOSE OUR WILL ON THEM BASED ON INCOMPETENCE (AS MANY SHOPS DO - THE MYSTERIOUS EXCUSE TO HIDE BEHIND… I'LL EXPLAIN IN PERSON IF I TATTOO YOU). NOT TO TURN A CLIENT OUT WITH SOME HALF ASSED IMAGE, UNDER SHADED NON DEFINED PILE OF SHIT… NOT TO GIVE THEM REASONS AS TO WHY IT CANNOT BE DONE… BUT TO TELL THEM WHAT CAN BE DONE, WHEN IT CAN BE DONE. 

REPUTATION IS EVERYTHING. IT'S WHAT KEEPS US BUSY, IT BRINGS CLIENTS IN WITH AUTOMATIC TRUST AND CONFIDENCE. WE DON'T TOLERATE WEAKNESS OR INCOMPETENCE.
